BROWNSTONE NIRVANA The Challenge To turn a 6-story brownstone into a high-tech marvel that's both a practical workhorse and a digital wonderland. Background On the wish list were flawless wireless capability throughout the home, shared storage locations for files, music, and video, a high-end video security system, and a host of new computers and gadgets. Personal Technology Solution As with any home project, the first step was to meet with our client face-to-face, and get to know the family, the general contractor, electrician and architects to ensure that everything would come together to reflect the family's vision. Next, we drew up a project plan, including an estimate, to provide the client with a clear timeline and understanding of all her home technology. After supervising and testing all wiring, including cat-6 (gigabit) and fiber installation, we set up a multipoint, high-end, secure wireless network. Storage servers and clients were set up and tested throughout the home, including a robust security system. Computers, printers, and peripherals were all expertly installed and tested and the entire family was personally trained in using the new technology set-up. Personal Technology Results
